The Concept "UMOJA"
More than a concept, an ideology...
We wanted to highlight the importance of the concept of Ndolo which means "pure love" in the Douala language of Cameroon. These 2 words go far beyond the simple relationship between an Afro man and an Afro woman, it is much more than a bond, more than intimacy that binds them, it is the pursuit of knowledge, of protection and truth. We also believe that it is essential to deal with certain issues within our community. Our diaspora is at the center of our concerns and we want what is best for "them", and as Malcolm X said: "We need light for each other, light creates understanding, understanding creates love, love creates patience and patience creates unity”. For the little story
Umoja means, "Unity" in the Swahili language. This word alone sums up our whole concept.
And finally why speed dating and not a dating site?
We simply wanted to favor meetings in real life. Whether you are alone or with others, you are already with your family.
The origins of speed dating
Created in 1990 (end) by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo in the United States with the objective of preserving Jewish culture by pushing for intra-community marriages.
In concrete terms, how does a speed dating evening go?
registration
Once the registration has been validated by email, you are invited along with other single people (as many men as women) to go to a mystery place, the address of which will be sent to you after confirmation of your registration. * Attention punctuality will be required!
On the spot
Arrived on site a member of our team will check your registration. You will then be given a tag with a number that you must keep throughout the evening as it will be used to identify you to other participants.
During Speed Dating
Finished the explanations we install you at a table of 2 people a man on one side a woman on the other and it left for 8 minutes of dating!
The duration
After 8 minutes a music sounds the women stay in their place only the men change and go to the next table. The music will sound 10 times, so you will meet 10 different people. (between 8 and 10 depending on the evening)
Your choice
That's it you have now met the 8 or 10 people, the evening is coming to an end but one more thing you will have to give the speed dating team your booklet with the number(s) of the people you want to see again .
